Zubeen Garg
18 November 1972 – 19 September 2025

He did not only sing to Assam. He sang for it.

To millions, he was simply Zubeen Da, elder brother. For more than thirty years he was a singer, composer, actor and filmmaker who carried Assamese music from village stages to the biggest halls in the country. Many people first heard him through the Hindi hit Ya Ali. Assam knew him long before that.

He sang in Assamese, Hindi, Bengali and many other languages, and he never stopped speaking up for the people and the culture he came from.

When he died, the state stopped. Well over a million people joined his final journey, and he was cremated with full state honours at Kamarkuchi on 23 September 2025. Grief turned into a single, steady request: tell us exactly what happened, and let the law do its work.

What we are asking for

Justice, not vengeance. Five things every supporter of this page stands behind.

  • A fair and transparent investigation

Findings shared honestly with his family, and with the public wherever the law allows.

  • A fast, time-bound trial

The fast-track court should keep its promise. Justice that arrives too late is not justice.

  • Clear answers about his last trip

Who organised what, and who was responsible for the safety of an artist travelling abroad for an event.

  • Protection for witnesses and respect for the family

No intimidation, no rumours, no harassment of anyone, least of all those who loved him.

  • Peaceful, lawful campaigning

No hate and no violence. We do not hold trials on social media, and we leave guilt to the court.
